Charles Dawson
While on an assistant job in Dallas I noticed the model, Charles, had such a unique look, that I had to ask for a photograph of him. Sometimes that’s a bit out of the ordinary, I didn’t want to step on the main photographers toes or hold the model or stylists any longer than paid for.
Over all these images took about 5 min for set up and firing off about 30 images total.
I was inspired by a few shots I saw that a photographer, Dean Brashaw, had done.I admired the feel and lighting so I did my own attempt to recreate that feel for this.
I placed a 60” octabox about 4 feet behind the model and to his right, feathered to me, as to make the softest and prettiest light available. I added a v-flat in the front of him to bounce that soft light back to him to give that slight detail on his clothing and face.
Over all with everything happening within a 5 min period, I couldn’t be more happy with the way the images came out.
All of this was shot to Captureone Pro using Alien Bee strobes.
